This fall cleanup covered the spectacular Storm King Highway section in the Hudson Highlands. One of the most scenic roads in the region, it also attracts a lot of visitors — and unfortunately, a lot of litter.
Volunteers worked in small teams, tackling pull-offs and scenic overlook areas where litter tends to accumulate. The views were stunning even as we picked up trash — a reminder of exactly why this work matters.
We collected 38 bags of trash, including a disturbing amount of single-use plastics and beverage containers. Several volunteers also documented illegal dumping sites that were reported to the town for follow-up cleanup.
