About HVCC

A grassroots movement to keep the Hudson Valley clean — one bag at a time.

Our Story

In December 2022, Cornwall resident Bob Rogan wrote a letter to the Cornwall Local newspaper with a simple message: our roads are covered in litter, and we can do something about it. The response was immediate and enthusiastic.

On January 22, 2023, the first Cornwall Cleanup Crew gathered for their inaugural cleanup. What started as a handful of neighbors picking up trash on local roads quickly grew into a weekly tradition. Every Sunday at 10 AM, rain or shine, volunteers meet to clean a different section of road.

As word spread, volunteers from beyond Cornwall began joining. In 2023, the Cornwall Cleanup Crew incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the name Hudson Valley Cleanup Crew, reflecting the growing scope of our work across the region.

Our Mission

Hudson Valley Cleanup Crew is dedicated to organizing volunteer-led roadside and environmental cleanups throughout the Hudson Valley region of New York. We believe that a cleaner environment starts with community action — and that anyone can make a difference by picking up a bag of trash.

What We Do

  • Weekly Sunday Cleanups — We meet every Sunday at 10 AM at a different location. No signup required — just show up!
  • Community Partnerships — We work with local municipalities, highway departments, and businesses to coordinate cleanups and maximize our impact.
  • Supply Everything — Volunteers just need to bring themselves. We provide trash bags, gloves, high-visibility safety vests, and grabber tools.
  • Track Our Impact — We count every bag, track every mile, and celebrate every volunteer to show the tangible difference we make.
